Kitchen Design Choices That Won’t Go Out of Style

Designing a kitchen is a pretty involved task. You have to plan the layout, decide on which materials to use, and account for things like plumbing and electrical work. And then there are the trends to consider. The problem with trends is that they’re changing all the time, which can make designing a kitchen a bit tricky. Luckily, there are some trends that for all intents and purposes appear to be here to stay.

Hardwood Floors

Hardwood floors have enjoyed quite a jump in popularity over the last few years, and there is no denying that they can look absolutely gorgeous. They tend to be softer and warmer than tile, not to mention the improvement they can make to the value of the home. They can also be refinished, which helps offset their relative susceptibility to scratches and dents. As too much water can cause trouble for hardwood floors, however, you’ll need to know how to clean them properly.

Quartz or Granite Countertops

When it comes to your countertops, durability is an absolute must. For this reason, in addition to their stunning beauty, quartz and granite countertops are highly desirable. Both materials hold up well against stains, dents, nicks, and potential damage from exposure to very hot or very cold temperatures, and design-speaking they haven’t seen a drop in popularity. Of course, make sure you know how to keep the stone in good condition. You’ll need to have granite sealed, since it’s a porous substance, though because quartz is non-porous you won’t need to worry about resealing that material.

Kitchen Islands

Space is something of a premium in kitchens, which is why the kitchen island is one especially popular design choice. It can add to the available counter space, making it an excellent surface to prepare food on. Some kitchen islands also come with storage. You can design it to have its own set of cupboards and drawers, which can help ensure you have enough space for all of your favorite kitchen appliances, dishes, and cookware.

Some trends come and go, especially in the kitchen, but other design options appear to be here to stay. Hardwood floors, countertops made from quartz or granite, and kitchen islands are just a few examples of kitchen design choices that don’t look like they’re going anywhere anytime soon. If you want a kitchen with stylish but long-lasting appeal, options like these are definitely worth your consideration.
